The

Southeast from Bodrum which is of the most popular holiday resort
in the mediterranean is the Gulf of Gökova popular for its numerous
bays, seaside villages and historical places such as the beach of
cleopatra and the remais of the once great city of Knidos. Beneath
the Datça Peninsula is the Gulf of Hisarönü a delightful place with
hundreds of beatiful tiny bays and islands waiting to be explored.
Beyond Hisarönü is the popular resort of Marmaris, a bustling town
with a large and modern marina, numerous shops, restaurants and
bars. From Marmaris to Antalya lies İztuzu beach famous for being
the last nesting ground of the Mediterranean Loggerhead turtles.
Ekincik is the best place to leave your yacht for a visit to ancient
Caunos. The Gulf of Göcek is an exclusive yachting centre and one
of the Mediterranean's best sailing spots with many small coves
and island. The Gulf of Fethiyr features the bustling port of Fethiye
and famous logoon and the white sand beach of Ölüdeniz (The dead
Sea). Further to the east is the charming little town Kalkan with
old Turkish houses and narrow streets and the small town of Kaş
with it's Lycian tombs, amphitheatre and numereous restaurants,
bars and shops. Further east is magnicifant Kekova with its sunken
city and the picturesque fishing village of Kaleköy with a beatiful
ancient fortrees. The small village of Üçağız, and ancient Myra
in Demre and St. Nicholas church are other attractions of this area.
Further on is the town of Finike with a modern marina, Port Genovese,
Adrasan bay and Phaselis which has spectacular ancient ruins. Kemer
is popular resort with a modern marina.The last stop Antalya is
one of Turkey's main holiday resorts with many hotels, retaurants
and a well preserved old quarter worth visiting. |
